Bon Jovi
BON JOVI
The least metallic variation of heavy metal, pop-metal became the most popular form of hard rock during the '80s. Some pop-metal bands emphasized metal's most important building block -- the guitar riff -- more than others, but pop-metal's main attraction were the huge, catchy hooks that owed a great deal to the fist-pumping choruses of arena rock. Most of the Los Angeles-based bands (where the scene was heavily concentrated) also drew on the elaborate visual stylings of British glam rock, which resulted in the much-maligned "hair metal" boom of the late '80s. While pop-metal sounded loud and aggressive on the surface, it nearly always had a slick studio sheen that kept it radio-friendly. '70s artists like Aerosmith and Alice Cooper had an undeniable influence on pop-metal, but the band that sparked the true genesis of the style was Kiss. Kiss' music was catchy and utterly simple, and their wildly theatrical visuals were an essential part of their appeal. Next came Van Halen, whose wild party-rock and virtuoso lead guitarist set the style for much of the pop-metal that followed.
Kiss
 KISS
The first wave of pop-metal -- bands like Motley Crue (who would later become superstars), Quiet Riot, Dokken, Ratt, and Twisted Sister -- wasn't quite as poppy as it would later become, save for Def Leppard's 1983 landmark Pyromania, perhaps the most melodic metal album up to that point. Bon Jovi's 1986 smash Slippery When Wet ushered in the age of hair metal, where photogenic looks (and, yes, teased-up hair) became just as important in selling a band as the music itself. The following year, Def Leppard's Hysteria set new standards for smoothed-out production as well as blockbuster sales. Not all subsequent pop-metal fell into the slick, image-conscious hair-metal camp; Guns N' Roses, Tesla, and Skid Row often had a grittier edge, and Extreme was unpredictably eclectic, while veteran rockers Kiss, Aerosmith, and Alice Cooper all staged pop-friendly comebacks.
Poison
POISON
But by and large, the hair bands reigned supreme, playing lots of sleazy Aerosmith boogie and big AOR-style power ballads with bits of Van Halen flash; Poison embodied the glammed-up, party-hearty excess of hair metal perhaps better than any. Pop-metal and hair metal (and the excess and formula that had come to be associated with both) were effectively wiped off the musical map by grunge in 1991; some pop-metal bands continued to record for smaller labels and cult audiences, but the music's reputation had suffered too much to restore its former glamour.

Pop music (a term that originally derives from an abbreviation of "popular") is a genre of popular music, which originated in its modern form in the Western world during the 1950s and 1960s, deriving from rock and roll. The terms "popular music" and "pop music" are often used interchangeably, although the former is a description of music which is popular (and can include any style).
As a genre, pop music is extremely eclectic, often borrowing elements from other styles including urbandancerockLatin and country; nonetheless, there are core elements which define pop. Such elements include generally short to medium-length songs, written in a basic format (often the verse-chorus structure), as well as the common employment of repeated choruses, melodic tunes, and hooks.
So-called "pure pop" music, such as power pop, which has been described as mixture of hard rock and melodic pop musi and tends to be more aggressive than pop rock, features all these elements, using electric guitarsdrums and bass for instrumentation.

Jars Of Clay- Christian Contemporary Pop-Rockjars_of_clay_bioJars of Clay is comprised of Dan Haseltine, lead vocals, Stephen Mason, guitar/ background vocals, Matt Odmark, electric and acoustic guitars/background vocals, and Charlie Lowell, piano and keyboards/background vocals.
Jars of Clay takes its name from II Corinthians 4:7. "We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
Jars of Clay began in 1990 when a band of eager, but completely unprepared, youngmusicians came together in a sort of "dormitory acoustic group" at Greenville College in Illinois. Not even thinking about an actual career in music, they began to write songs more for the fun of it than anything. For even a little more entertainment, they decided to submit a demo to a national new artist competition. Three million records later, the music of that unassuming group of college buddies is heard around the globe. And the band, filling store shelves and the hearts of millions, is Jars of Clay.

Since winning the Gospel Music Association's Spotlight Competition in 1994, Jars of Clay has achieved multi-platinum status and collected numerous awards - including a 1997 Grammy, 4 Dove Awards and 15 career Dove nominations. They have also received extensive radio airplay on contemporary Christian, mainstream alternative rock and alternative pop stations resulting in 10 #1 singles. But what keeps audiences clamoring for more is the group's talent for blending edgy and dynamic sounds with thought provoking and pointed lyrics that challenge listeners to thrive outside of the typical.
"If I Left the Zoo", the band's third album for Essential/Silvertone Records, grabs hold of the unexpected and stands it on its head. Incorporating a unique blend of organic and playful music - reminiscent of the group's self-titled, debut album - with inspirational and witty lyrics, If I Left The Zoo refreshes the spirit and ignites the soul.
2003
Jars of Clay were very busy this year, releasing two albums.
Multi-platinum, Grammy winners Jars of Clay have long been known as one of the premier live acts in music today, headlining their own tours, while also partnering with performers such as Sting and Sheryl Crow. Whether it's in the midst of a swirling rock recital, or the haunting simplicity of an acoustic song, Jars of Clay is at their artistic finest while connecting with a live audience.

Adam Young of Owl City
Adam Young of Owl City

In the state of Minnesota lies a small town called Owatonna with roughly twenty-two thousand inhabitants. Within that city is a quiet road with a modest house. In that house there's an unkempt basement with no windows. Within those confines you'll find Adam Young of Owl City hard at work on his electronic and melodically infectious music of simple and singular beauty.

Inside this "cave," as Adam likes to describe it, he has begun to quickly win over a large audience thirsty for something genuine, something sublime.

Being an only child in a small town, and having no musicians in his immediate family, Adam is hard pressed to say how it all started. Explaining that he always had a "push" to be creative, Adam picked up his first guitar in junior high school.

Growing up in a "sheltered bubble" and being one of the more shy kids around the neighborhood, Adam seemed compelled to lend his time and creative ideas to music.

"I've always been the shy guy, I don't see that changing, but I definitely feel a lot more comfortable than I anticipated. I can hide behind the music."

"I'm still trying to figure it out," Adam laughs. "Back in June of 2007 it kind of started on a whim. My parents were away for the weekend, and wanting to be loud and make some noise and whatever, I began writing versions of what became my first, self released digital EP - Of June. I put it up on MySpace the following month and didn't tell anyone."

Word of mouth began to spread for Adam's music, with demands coming from various parts of the country for an album. Maybe I'm Dreaming, released digitally in March of 2008, was Owl City's full-length debut. The album has garnered great critical praise and is a clear representation of Owl City's progression as an artist.

Adam became a phenomenon on MySpace with more than 7 million profile views and 40 million plays, which is outstanding in such a short span of time. It was clear that Owl City was making a colossal impact on the music scene.

As listeners on MySpace climbed into the tens of millions, Owl City got set to release his next creation, Ocean Eyes. Loaded with amazing loops, catchy pickups, and lyrics that soothe the mind and touch the heart, Adam Young has once again created a lush listening experience.

Owl City's trademark desire to escape in dreams, oceans and sky abound on this, his first official CD, in songs such as "Cave In" and "Umbrella Beach." Adam also continues to display a terrific wit uncommon in most electronic based music in such songs as the clap infused, bouncy "Dental Care" (a humorous metaphor on smiling) and "Fireflies."

Given the official compact disc treatment, previously released fan favorite "Hello Seattle" gives the great Northwest its' due with an ode to highlands, parking lots, Puget Sound and albatross. With glorious vocal harmonies ("The Saltwater Room") and touching odes to love lost ("Vanilla Twilight") Adam has dug more deeply on Ocean Eyes lyrically and musically than ever.

Brief Story:
Present-day college freshman and devout Christian, Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper), finds his faith challenged on his first day of Philosophy class by the dogmatic and argumentative Professor Radisson (Kevin Sorbo). Radisson begins class by informing students that they will need to disavow, in writing, the existence of God on that first day, or face a failing grade. As other students in the class begin scribbling the words “God Is Dead” on pieces of paper as instructed, Josh find himself at a crossroads, having to choose between his faith and his future. Josh offers a nervous refusal, provoking an irate reaction from his smug professor. Radisson assigns him a daunting task: if Josh will not admit that “God Is Dead,” he must prove God’s existence by presenting well-researched, intellectual arguments and evidence over the course of the semester, and engage Radisson in a head-to-head debate in front of the class. " PERFECT AVERAGE."
(Front man) -Vinz Grigo

Being in the band is a very serious matter of any perspective of individuals, 'cuz according to what I observed along the way in the music industry, people are able to see you behind those stories that exposed through a song We've played, and they can easily judge the us as a group according into our actions, so that's why I most prefer to be silent, (Most Of The Time) when people talks about me and my team and probably, they'd expected so much about my looks, my way of being feminist and they even questioned why I'M being part in a Band, 'cuz they'd expected that I was Shy, very SHY... Sounds Funny! but seriously, being Who I am is all enough to prove that my life is not just all about the ups and downs of the music I've made and all the words that I've shared, particularly in my music but it's all about the "IMPACT" that imparts positive to the Audience. That's How My Music Works. Having a partner that never leaves is all I've Got to continue my calling. The Perfect One.

POP MUSIC

Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.

Popular Pop Artists

Derived from the word “Popular”, Pop, in the broadest sense of things, is music that aims to communicate with a large amount of people with catchy hooks, choruses and melodies. Just like pop culture, which absorbs all kind of elements from various sources and cultures, a pop tune can have infinite musical genes in its DNA – Rock n Roll, Folk, R&B, Hip Hop, Dance – even african music. Today, however, Pop music is usually referred to as the type of music you can hear on mainstream media outlets, rehashed on famous brands such as American Idol & Glee. Its sound is mostly electronic, and draws equally from Hip Hop and R&B on one hand, and European dance music on the other.

·         Blink 182 is One of the most Popular Pop band icon

  • Blink-182 continued the unexpected 1990s journey of pop-punk into the mainstream. The trio emerged from Southern Californian skate-punk culture with a high-energy stage show heavy with slapstick and fart jokes. But like the slightly older Green Day, closer study revealed hook-filled rock songs obsessed with breakup and loneliness, even occasionally delving into such topics as teen suicide ("Adam's Song")

  • ·         The new-school punk trio blink-182 were formed in the suburbs of San Diego, California around guitarist/vocalist Tom delogne, bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus, and drummerScott Raynor. Originally known as simply Blink, the band debuted in 1993 with a self-released EP, Fly Swatter. After releasing the album Buddha in 1994, the trio signed to Grilled Cheese/Cargo and released Cheshire Cat the following year. The threat of a lawsuit from a similarly named Irish band forced them to change their name to blink-182, but the group earned a higher profile touring the world withPennywise and NOFX on the 1996-1997 Warped Tour, plus appearing on innumerable skate/surf/snowboarding videos.
  • ·
  • ·         The third blink-182 LP, Dude Ranch, was jointly released in 1997 by Cargo and MCA. Dude Ranch expanded the group's audience and went platinum by the end of 1998, due in part to the popularity of the infectious teen anthem "Dammit (Growing Up)." The group also signed officially with MCA, which released the band's fourth album, Enema of the State, in the summer of 1999. The album, produced by Jerry Finn(Green Day, Rancid), also welcomed a new member into the trio's ranks; Travis Barker, formerly with the Aquabats, settled in on drums after Raynor left midway through a 1998 U.S. tour. Enema was greeted with almost immediate success, and helped the band achieve the mainstream status of toilet-humored pop-punk kings thatDude Ranch had only hinted at. Driven by the commercially successful singles "What's My Age Again?," "All the Small Things," and "Adam's Song," music videos for the three songs (whose clips included themes of streaking and boy band spoofs) were MTV smashes as well.

POP MUSIC

   POP MUSIC

Pop music, often called simply pop, is contemporary music and a common type of popular music (distinguished from classical or art music and from folk music. The term does not refer specifically to a single genre or sound, and its meaning is different depending on the time and place. Within popular music, "pop music" is often distinguished from other sub-genres by stylistic traits such as a danceable rhytm or beat, simple melodies and a repeating structure which are reminiscent of the songs of vocalists such as Michael Jackson 80's sensation and Katy Perry 21st century. Pop-song lyrics are often emotional, relating to love or dancing.

A pop song may be written by a professional songwriter or composer whose work is then given to a professional singer, or it may be written by the singer who performs it. Since the success of The Beatles in the 1960s, it has become increasingly common for pop music performers to write their own songs. However, many pop songs are not written by the performers. Pop standards (songs that have achieved fame in their own right and are performed by many different singers) and cover versions (recordings that are "covered" by a later performer) are also common.
There are many aspirants of this particular genre and mostly was came up to a pop band and solo artist. This genre is a worldwide trend in Music Industry where all the famous artist born to be with this kind of phenomenon. When the singer and the writer of a song are different people, it is the singer who is considered the "pop star," with the writer working behind the scenes. Pop stars have sometimes been criticized for not writing—or in some cases, even singing—their own material by fans of genres where such a practice is usual (such as rock bands, rap music). On the other hand, pop singers have sometimes been criticized for a lack of artistic training and technique by listeners of classical music—where performers usually interpret music written by others.
